The Power Of Re When Mailing Your List

How Using RE Influences Your Mailing List
There is nothing like the Warrior Forum for a good debate. Yesterday, one member brought up the topic of using RE : when sending emails to your list. This member definitely claims that it's a trick and that the person using it is trying to commit some sort of fraud or worse. Well, let's take a look at this subject and see if we can't come up with some answers that make sense.

Firstly, the interpretation of RE : by most marketers is incorrect to start with. They take it to mean in answer to when in reality it implies regarding. As an example, if I were to say, "Replying to your previous email" that would in particular indicate a reply. However, if I were to assert, "RE : the latest changes At Aweber" that doesn't mean I'm replying to anything you claimed. It only suggests that the e-mail I'm sending is in regard to the changes that Aweber just made. Nothing more, nothing less.

However, having said that, it doesn't truly matter what the technical meaning of RE : is. What does matter is the understanding that YOUR list has regarding your using it. If your list is composed mostly of other net marketers, regardless of the rest of the topic line, they are more apt to take it as you making an attempt to make them think that this e-mail is in answer to something they sent you and will react appropriately. That reaction can be anything from a nasty e-mail in return to a straightforward unsubscribe. This Marketing Main Event 4 review shows you exactly how to bond with your subscribers to avoid subscription cancellations.

In non IM niches, such as health, the reaction would possibly not be as evil. Most non marketers don't get so anal about stuff like that. The rationale, and this is what baffles me, is that marketers hate being marketed to. So they'll look for any reason at all of the slam you into the ground. At least which has been my private experience. Not everyone is like that, but many are. Get used to it.

OK, but how do we handle this? Do we use RE : or do we keep away from it? The sole answer I can give you that makes any sense at all is this...test it. You may find, depending on the niche you're in, that you'll get different results with each one.

Having said that, using RE : appears to work best as many enormous name marketers use it. However, appearances can be deceiving, which is why I say test it for yourself and see whether it either increases your open rate or increases your opt out rate. From those results, you may know whether or not using RE : is something you wish to do. Remember, it doesn't matter what the reality of using it means. What matters is the perception of your list. Right or wrong...they're the ones who decide whether they remain subscribers.

When building your own list there are a few people who have truly mastered the art. For more info be sure to check out the Marketing Main Event 4 review as it's the latest and greatest product from the membership site masters, the guys who truly understand other people's psychology.
